ARE JESUS AND LUCIFER THE SAME BEING?

By Captain Curtis Hervey, G.C., M.R.E. (USA RET)

I keep reading about this myth that Jesus and Lucifer are the same person. I wanted to debunk this urban myth.

In the Holy Bible, Lucifer is never called “morning star” but instead is called “son of the morning” in Isaiah 14:12 and Jesus is called “bright and morning star” (with a conjunction) in Revelation 22:16.

Furthermore, the “son of the morning” of Isaiah 14:12 is 1) fallen from heaven (corresponds with), 2) cut down to the ground, and 3) weakened nations. In direct contrast, Jesus is called the “light of the world” in John 8:12 and would never be described as 1) fallen from heaven, 2) cut down to the ground, or 3) weakener nations.

Note that the description “fallen from heaven” directly corresponds with Luke 10:18 where Jesus said he witnessed Satan fall like lightning from heaven. This tells us two things: the “Satan” is another name for Lucifer and that he is symbolized by the lightning bolt.

Next, in Revelation 12:9-12, we are taught that Satan (Lucifer) is also another name for the devil who is a serpent and a dragon who commands fallen angels. Another clue is that Lucifer (AKA Satan or the devil) “weakened nations” and this directly corresponds to key passages about the character of Lucifer:

1.      “Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them… And the Lord said unto Satan, From whence comest thou? And Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.” Job 1:6; 2:2

2.      “And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.” Luke 4:5-6

3.      “But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.” Matthew 16:23

4.      “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.” John 8:44

5.      “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John 10:10

6.      “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” 1 Peter 5:8

7.      “And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.” 2 Corinthians 11:14

8.      “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7

9.      “But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” 2 Corinthians 11:3

10.  “And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [be] with you. Amen.” Romans 16:20

11.  “And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.” Revelation 12:9

12.  “Neither give place to the devil.” Ephesians 4:27

13.  “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” Ephesians 6:11

14.  “And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.” Revelation 12:9-12

15.  “In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” 2 Corinthians 4:4

Therefore, those who erroneously claim the Holy Bible teaches that Lucifer and Jesus are the same beings are clearly grossly ignorant of what the Holy Bible actually teaches.
